10 Things I’ve Learned So Far In 2019:

  1. Other people’s problems are not your problems. If someone is upset with you over a decision you’ve made regarding your life (as long as it wasn’t meant to harm anyone), that is their issue to deal with, not yours. Take a breath, drink a glass of wine, and wait for them to get over it. You don’t need to prove yourself to anyone in regards to your decisions.

  2. Blood doesn’t make family; love makes family. Your family shouldn’t make you feel bad about yourself (and if they do, find a new one).

  3. Dance. When you’re out with your friends watching some lame-but-catchy cover band on Saturday night, no one is paying attention to your crappy dance moves. The joy on your face is more attractive than holding back so you don’t seem weird.

  4. Whatever you do, do it out of genuinity. Sure, your volunteer time with a certain non-profit looks great on your resume, but if you aren’t doing it out of the genuine goodness of your heart, everyone will be able to see right through it.

  5. Don’t listen to that little voice in your head that constantly tells you you aren’t good enough. She’s lying.

  6. If you do believe her, be easy on yourself- you’re human. Take extra care of yourself in the days following and try to remember what makes you the awesome goddess you truly are.

  7. Lift others up! Some days, my friends need pep talks to remind them what makes them great. Other days, I need the extra help. Take turns and you will never have to worry about not having anyone to turn to when the days are dark.

  8. Get a heated blanket. Your bed will never be the same (in the best way!).

  9. Find out what makes your heart sing, and then DO THOSE THINGS. People might not always agree with or understand your interests. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t embrace them! You like what you like for a reason.

  10. Don’t be afraid to take your time when tackling large seasons of change. This is YOUR timeline, and no one else gets to tell you otherwise. You are in charge, my friend.
