Growth is one of the most natural processes we go through as humans. It’s usually unexpected and can be quite scary depending on what direction we’re growing. Sometimes it’s intentional but often we have no idea where we are going until we end up to where we are supposed to be. There are so many different ways we can learn to grow- as an overall person, friend, mother, brother, sister, employee, whatever you may be- but the important part is being able to be true to yourself while going through these transitions.
I have a terrible habit of living my life to the expectations of others rather than to the expectations I have of myself. Plain and simple- it’s just a fact of life for me. But it doesn’t have to stay like that. I am slowly learning that although getting opinions from others is healthy, constantly looking for validation is not.
I don’t know if anyone else is interested in this, but I have grown to have quite the liking of MBTI types. After doing extensive research and testing (AKA I took one free quiz on 16personalities.com, haha) I learned that I “am” an INFP. Being a generalized “people pleaser” seems to be common quality among other INFP’s. While it’s comforting to know I am not alone in the world of learning to love, trust, and please myself more than others, it can be a big obstacle to tackle.
I love being able to hear others’ experiences and would love to be able to grow myself through your advice. So, my questions to you: Are you a people pleaser? Have you always been one or is this a new thing in your life? Do you struggle with growing as a person, and if so, how do you manage it? What is a role in your life right now that you would like to grow in?
Can’t wait to hear from you!
